Originally from Columbus, Ohio, Hannah Berkeley Cohen has called Havana home since she was 20 years old. Since 2010, she has been documenting the evolution of Cuban daily life with stories, photographs and audio interviews. She is a regular contributor to The New York Times, and her work has also appeared in The Wall Street Journal, The Boston Globe, and Curbed, among others. In late 2016, she reported live from Havana for ABC News the death of Fidel Castro.
Before her passion projects in Cuba began, Cohen headed the creation of the first women-led IT knowledge center in rural Bangladesh, and worked with Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus to create literacy and microfinance initiatives for Bangladeshi women.
Based in Cuba, Cohen provides private consulting to American businesspeople and journalists wishing to travel to or create partnership-projects in Cuba. Private, bespoke tours are offered on a rolling basis, 4x/year.
